The opening scene starts with the main character washing their face, as the narrative becomes a lot clearer for the audience throughout the trailer may atually be subliminal symbol for washing away his sins after being forced into the violent actions by the masked figure which is actually just a figment of his imagaination or possibly a second personality, which is then shown in the second shot.
We used non-diagetic sounds of a piano playing throughout to suggwst the presence of this masked figure is in fact not friendly, but is a friend to him which is then later enhanced and seen when the main character is bullied by his peers, this is greatly inspired by "Donnie Darko".
Within the media group we decided that using sudden jump cuts would make the audience feel the tension and unease that the main protagonist feels on a dialy basis, the masked figure appears and disappears within the blink of an eye which increases the code of enigma and adds to the narrative, the target audience will ask questions such as "who is the masked figure, is there more than one, what does he want and why is there" by displaying this period of the main characters life we show the audience that mental health plays a big part in everyones life and what may happen when disregarded or left to face their problem alone, and we decided to break the convention and stereotype of only women dealing with mental health by using a male protagonist throughout and the females being the ones in power.
following the narrative and condition of our main character makes the audience more interested due to the fact they build a small emotional connection for the main character and possibly even relate to the character and may even understand that their actions can hurt other people.
We decided to introduce a weapon into the narrative as we end up building the characters narrative into revenge, which breaks the equilibrium as the females that bullied him end up dead, and the male thats also bullying him is kept alive but appears in certain shots after the female and after the therapist scenes which builds tension and interest within the audience as they will want to know if the main character was helped or if the other male is his next victim.
we educated the audience on the fact that people have differentiating psychological problems that need to be dealt with and that we should be looking out for this in not only females but males too, and if this is ignored or we lead the problem to divulge deeper into the psychological trauma they are experiencing then this may leave the victim of the emotional abuse to do something similar to our trailer, and if not killing his victims, then possibly himself.
Our trailer begins to speed up which creates a fast paced, alarming change of equilibrium, but the music and revenge narrative still encourages our audience to believe all actions the main character edns up performing are done with good intent. The non-diagetic piano increases in tempo but stays calm which compliments the title of the trailer "Deluded" which shows that it confuses the viewer as much as the main character is confused as to what's happening.
